FORCES GREATER THAN OURSELVES

Memoirs are based on our memories – positive and negative – of our efforts to harmonize ourselves and the more powerful systems of forces around us. And, these forces change over time and are the context for our biographies.
We live in a Sun/Earth system called the “Saros”. Nature - is nested within this larger, cosmic Saros.
When we are born, we are born into a place where geography affects our biography uniquely. The climate where we were born, the weather, the terrain, plants, animals all affect our lives.  Major storms of all sort can cause calamities.
We are also born as a member of a cultural system: a people, tribe or clan. The country we are born into have language, and sub-cultures based on religion or historical categories. Our family, however we define that, is a group, that exists within a cultural system. All of these are greater than the individual.
The relationship between our parents affects our family construct. And, finally, our own unique self is within all of these nests.
Starting from the left, each of these larger systems affects each system to its right, or we could say, each system affects the biography of each system.
Each system has sub-systems or agents which independently affect each system. For example, day/night rhythms affect different religious groups: Muslims and Jews mark their months starting with the new moon, other calendars use the Julian Calendar.
All of these components make our lives rich and complex.
Time is also a factor as things change. Timelines reflect the evolving social status which affects cultures, families, and ourselves.
