OVERVIEW Timelines

OVERVIEW TIMELINES
TIMELINES of historical facts show the path, course or trajectory which America has followed over the moral ecology of each generation.
Walt Whitman’s poem “Song Of The Open Road” is about struggle and war. So, I have picked up from Whitman that these timelines over the moral terrain of each generation are like “Battle Maps.”
These timelines are organized into generational time segments based upon sociological historical research of William Strauss & Neil Howe.[1]
The dates of events and factoids which comprise the timelines are drawn from contemporary  books by popular authors listed in each timeline.
Here are the generations in this book (based on the FOURTH TURNING.)

CRISIS - 1860 - 1865 – U.S. CIVIL WAR / IMMIGRATION GENERATION

ORDER - 1865 – 1885 – “ROBBER BARONS / JIM CROW / TEMPERANCE GENERATION

AWAKEN - 1886 – 1907 – MUCKRAKING / BOMBING / ANTI-SALOON LEAGUE / PANIC OF 1893 GENERATION

UNRAVEL - 1908 – 1928 – WWI / KKK / PROHIBITION GENERATION

CRISIS - 1929 – 1946 – WWII / GREAT DEPRESSION GENERATION

ORDER - 1947 – 1964 – AMERICA THE SUPERPOWER GENERATION

AWAKEN - 1965 – 1984 – COUNTERCULTURAL CONSCIOUSNESS GENERATION

UNRAVEL - 1985 – 2004 – AMERICAN CULTURAL WAR GENERATION

Each timeline is accompanied by COMMENTARIES or reports which amplify a specific item or inform and enlighten the reader about what life was like at that time.
